A jury in Newport News, VA found Garlock Sealing Technologies and John Crane Incorporated liable for the mesothelioma death of a shipyard worker who used their products during his career. The suit alleged the victim was exposed to asbestos fibers from Garlock and John Crane products during his career as a shipyard worker. Thousands of workers across the country were exposed to deadly asbestos fibers in shipyards, chemical plants and oil refineries during their careers.
The actual jury award was over 9 million dollars, but the two companies were liable for only 60% of the verdict. Read the full story here.
